When you visit Diamond Head State Monument in Honolulu, you are going to be at the site of a volcanic tuff cone. Basically, this crater was formed after an eruption years ago. To get to the starting point for your hike, you can take the trolley. That makes everything much easier. You only have to pay $1 to gain access to the monument. It should also be mentioned that there is a water station available, as well as restrooms, but both are located where you start your hike.

Shade trees dot the landscape near the entrance so that you can get out of the sun for a minute. You’re also going to see wildlife there, including Hawaiian mongooses. Be sure you dress comfortably, including your shoes. There are sites to check out along the way, too, during your hike.

The hike is going to take about an hour and a half round trip, 45 minutes both ways. Of course, you’re going to want to rest and relax at the top, enjoying yourself and those views. You might want to bring a camera along so that you’re able to take some great photos. The hike is worth it indeed.
