These links are mainly outreach links such as guest posts, resource page links, infographic links, etc. Black hat links are more likely to get your site penalized, but they do tend to work faster for ranking your site. PBN links are black hat links and PBNs are basically websites that you build to link back to your main site(s). Link insertions or niche edits are grey hat links as they do pose a higher chance of getting your site penalized but not as high as PBNs.
